Hey i'm Emma :-D and I'm in the sixth grade at NewBrook Elementary. Some things i like to do are skiing(my fav sport) soccer, basketball, and reading!! I like reading mystery's or ghost stories. Some of my favorite books are Deep and Dark and Dangerous , When You Reach Me , and The Other Side of the Island . My goal for this year is to read 10 Dorthy Canfeild Fischer(DCF) books. Here are some of my revues for this years and last year!

             Every morning Ivy June Mosely has to wake up really early to catch the school bus. Cathrine Combs gets driven to school every morning. Ivy June has no telephone in her house, Cathrine had her personal cellphone. As you can tell these girls lives are very different. In the book Faith, Hope, and Ivy June by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor two girls go on an exchange program for two weeks, each to the others house to see what its like living the other persons life. This was such a good book to me and i couldn't put it down! Ivy June and Cathrine had two very different lives but by the end of the book they both learn whats really important. This book was a great fiction novel and i really enjoyed it!!!!!!

             Closed For The Season by Mary Downing Hawn. What a good book!!!!! When Logan realizes that a murder had taken place in the old house he recently moved into, he teams up with his next door neighbor, Aurthor, to uncover the mystery. Aurthor has an interesting personality, i think. He always says whays on his mind and is a little rude when it comes to manners. Thats why logan has to stop seeng him, right as they are waist deep in the case of the murder. Logan and Aurthor are soon in way over there head. The murder case becomes a dangerous mission, which is why i like the book so much. It always has you on your toes longing to read the next page. I would give this book a two thumbs up!!!!!!

            You find your self constantly messing things up and forgetting to pay attention. This is the life of Jason blake a twelve year old autistic boy, The main character in the book Anything But Typical by Nora Baskin. The only thing he feels "normal" doing is writing on his blog on the Storyboard.com . This book, i think, is a good story from a different persons perspective (Jason being autistic). Alot of times he finds himself causing a scene in school or not knowing what to say. Of course phenouxbird dosn't know that. Phenouxbird- someone Jason met on Storyboard.com- seems cool, Jason thinks, and he dosn't want to ruin his relationship with her just by meeting in person. This book was OK, but i would give it a 3.5 on a scale of one to five.

          You are 57% fatter then the national average for a twelve year old boy. Your gym teacher humiliates you any chance he gets, and someone is stealing your oreo cookies! The only time anyone ever says anything to you(becides Izzy, your only friend)is to call you things like 'fatty, fatty, ding, dong'. The thing is, you are actually really smart and can invent really cool things. Owen Birmhams life is every thing i just said but worse. In the book Slob by Ellen potter, Owen has to face those changes, do what he thinks is right and help someone who he thinks is out to get him. And lucky for Owen, good does come out of it! He discovers the truth about the thief of his cookies and makes friends with someone he didn't think he would ever be friends with. While he is facing all of these chalanges he manages to slims down to 10% fatter then the average twelve year old! I give this book five stars!!!!!

                   Minli, a girl that lives in a small poor town in China wished for her family's good fortune. In the bookWhere the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin, Minli does just that! She faces a lot of dangerous and adventurous tasks on her way to the old man of the moon, with a dragon at her side(literally because the dragon could not fly). Minli had to out-smart greedy monkeys, find and talk to the king(which is said to be an impossible task), and climb the never ending mountain on a ladder of thread to ask the old man of the moon her one question. But Minli had a difficult decision to make. Should she ask about her friend, dragons, wings or her family's good fourtune? In the end, Minli realizes what's really important. This book was soooooooo good, even though it is not the type of book that I would normally read,  I'm glad I gave it a shot. It was definitely worth it because this book was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

                    Franny Parker, by Hannah Roberts Mckinnon is about a girl and the changes she goes through when she gets new neighbors. Lucas, Franny's age and Lindy, Lucas's mom moved in next door. Lucas and Lindy start acting weird when ever Franny or her family ask's about their past.Soon a strange man(that ends up to be Lucas's dad) is looking for Lucas and Lindy, Lucas is blamed for stealing money for the store he works at, and just like the money, Lucas, soon after the robbery, goes missing as well. Its up to Franny Parker to fix the mess that Lucas and Lindy brought to her town. This book was good but could have been better. Some parts were slow, or a little boaring. On a scale of 1-5, I give this book a 3.

          The Gollywhopper Games

Gill Goodson has a dream of winning the Gollywhopper Games and getting out of the town he is living in. He soon meets a girl, Bianca when he is waiting in line for the games. They soon become friends. When the first round of the Gollywhopper Games begins Gill and Bianca both pass. They both make it to the final round along with a boy from Gills school, Rocky a girl named Lavinia and a boy named Thorn and another 5 kids that form the other team. The object of the game is to get through all the questions and puzzles before the other team gets there. Gill and his other team mates work together to win the Gollywhopper Games

              Another book that iv'e read is the Mysterious Benidict Scociety . Everything starts with an add in the newspaper. soon after the Mysterious Benidict Scociety was formed. On Reynie, Kate, Sticky, and Constence's journey to save a horrible idea from happening.When the Mysterious Benidict Scocitey gets to the Institute (the place where the horrible idea has formed)they get to work.They try to blend in, eavesdrop, climb up stuff, hide ,discover ,take risks , and do whatever they can to try and find a way to stop this horrible predicament. The Society has almost found a way to shut down this monsturous place when Mr Curtain(the founder of the institute ) found out what was going on.The Mysterious Benidict Scociety thought they would have cancel their mission  but all of a sudden Constence back fired Mr Curtain's horrible invention!!!!!This book filled with suspense ,mystery, and friendship is a wonderful book i hope everyone will give a chance!

               A SPECTACULAR book that i mentioned in my intro paragraph is THIS BOOK IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU.It is about a girl named Cass(her real name is Cassandra but people call her Cass)and her two best friends Max-Ernest and Yo-Yoji and how they work for a secret scioety called the Terces Scioety to try to destroy the Midnight Sun(a secret scociety where Ms. Mauvais and Dr.L(the founders to this horrible scociety) try and find a deadly secret that will give them the power to become immortal) while looking for a powerful tuning fork (this tuning fork allowes you to put it in any food and turn it into any food you desire).On the way Cass's mom gets kidnapped by the Midnight sun* and Cass finds the tuning fork!!!!!but sadly Cass gets threatened by hugo(a co-worker with the Midnight Sun who just happened to kidnap Cass's mom)and he says if Cass does not give him the precious tuning fork he will not give Cass's mom back.When Cass gives him the tuning fork he does not give Cass her mom back so that sends Cass and her friends on a journey to find her mom stop the Midnight Sun and shut down the chocolate plantation and free the orphans.this book is such a fun one to read i'm sure anyone who reads it will love it!

*the Midnight sun also started a chocolate plantation hidden in a Zoo's rainforest exibit that uses chiled labor to work it.

               An AMAZING book that I just finished is called :The Hunger Games-by Suzane Collins.

It takes place in District 12 in the square where the reaping happens. The reaping is where 1 boy and 1 girl from each district(1 through 12)get picked to go to the capitol and are basicly put in an arena to kill each other.  I know it sounds REALLY gory.....well it kind of is but it is not all about that. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Melark are the two tributes from District 12 .They go into the capitol and have a few days of amazing food and training before they have interviues and go into the arena. Katniss enters the arena alone/without an ally but about halfway through the games, Katniss pairs up with this little twelve year old girl named Rue from Districtbut then she got killed by a boy fron District 1.Then Katniss realizes that she can pair up with her own partner and bolth can win the Hunger Games.She pairs up with Peeta and amazingly enough she and Peeta win the Hunger Games! This amazing book would interest anyone who likes Harry potter, A Sieries of Unfortunate events,or The Mystery of the Third Lucretia would love this book!
